Clic.cat is operated by Moventis and supported by Shotl technology. It originally consisted of three “areas” originating and ending in La Bisbal d’Empordà. Later, those areas have been merged to better serve the passengers needs. These services operate from Monday to Saturday with different availability times during the day.
In order to use the service, passengers must make a reservation via the Clic.cat mobile app, available for iOS and Android, or by calling a dedicated phone line. The app allows users to select their pick-up point, destination, and desired time, while also providing real-time tracking of the vehicle and estimated arrival times.
The service is designed to be accessible for individuals with reduced mobility, offering reserved spaces that can be requested when booking.
This initiative, led by the Department of Territory, Housing, and Ecological Transition in collaboration with the Baix Empordà County Council, seeks to strengthen territorial cohesion, facilitate sustainable mobility, and reduce carbon emissions in the region.
Susi López, the Director-General of Transport and Mobility of Catalonia Government, highlighted that the new service "will connect towns that previously had poor public transport links" and emphasized that "it will serve sparsely populated areas with scattered housing."
With this launch, Shotl is adding more flexible options to Clic.cat services around Catalonia, contributing to a more efficient and sustainable transportation network in rural and low-density areas.
Furthermore, other municipalities have expressed interest in adopting this on-demand transport system, potentially expanding its coverage in the future.
In summary, Clic.cat represents an innovative step forward for improving mobility in the Baix Empordà shire, offering a flexible service tailored to citizens’ needs while promoting a more sustainable and environmentally friendly approach to transportation.
