We are thrilled to announce the launch of a comprehensive Demand-Responsive Transport (DRT) operation across the entire Republic of San Marino, which began service in March 2026. This milestone marks a significant step for Shotl, as we expand our on-demand transportation services to a full national scale, providing flexible, efficient, and sustainable mobility for residents and visitors alike.
The new mobility service, branded SMUVI, has also benefited from the collaboration of the Design Department of the University of San Marino, which contributed to the development of its brand identity and communication strategy, creating a distinctive and locally aligned visual language.
With Shotl’s platform at the core of the operation, users across San Marino now benefit from real-time, on-demand transport services. Traditional fixed routes and schedules are complemented with dynamic routing, where journeys are continuously optimized based on actual demand. This improves service efficiency while enhancing user experience and accessibility.
The service operates with a fleet of 4 vehicles, running every day of the week, including public holidays, ensuring full territorial coverage and consistent availability. In its first month of operation, over 1,000 passengers weekly were transported, reflecting strong initial adoption and validating the transition toward a demand-responsive model.
We are deeply grateful to the government of San Marino and all stakeholders involved for their trust. This project reflects a shared commitment to modernizing public transport through data-driven, flexible solutions that enhance efficiency while promoting sustainability.
Shotl continues to support operations through its integrated platform, including passenger and driver applications, real-time routing algorithms, and a management dashboard that enables continuous monitoring and optimization of the service.
As SMUVI continues to evolve, this project represents a key step toward a more adaptive, inclusive, and sustainable mobility system in San Marino.
