Shotl Celebrates Major Milestone in Sant Cugat's Demand-Responsive Transport Operations

Shotl is thrilled to celebrate a significant milestone in our on-demand transport operations in Sant Cugat del Vallès. The Can Trabal service has officially reached its 100,000th passenger, marking a testament to the growing adoption of flexible, efficient, and sustainable mobility solutions. Additionally, our operations in Les Planes and Can Barata continue to thrive, with Les Planes surpassing 75,000 passengers and Can Barata reaching 50,000 riders this quarter.

A Testament to Demand-Responsive Mobility Success

Since its launch, Shotl’s Demand-Responsive Transport (DRT) has been an integral part of Sant Cugat’s commitment to smart and sustainable mobility. The city, known for its innovative urban planning, has embraced DRT as a complementary service to its existing transport network, enabling greater accessibility, flexibility, and efficiency in suburban mobility.

The Can Trabal service, introduced in December 2019, has played a crucial role in bridging mobility gaps in the area, offering passengers an adaptive, app-based transportation alternative. Meanwhile, Les Planes and Can Barata—launched in March 2019 and July 2017, respectively—continue to demonstrate the effectiveness of Shotl’s technology in optimizing public transport by dynamically adjusting to real-time user demand.

Recognizing Key Partners

This milestone would not have been possible without the collaboration of our trusted operator, Moventis, whose support has contributed to the success of these services. We also extend our gratitude to the Sant Cugat City Council for their commitment to fostering sustainable urban mobility and supporting the integration of innovative transport solutions.

A Future of Smart, Sustainable, and Inclusive Transport

Shotl’s on-demand mobility services in Sant Cugat have already demonstrated tangible benefits:

  • Increased Accessibility: Serving suburban areas with greater efficiency and flexibility.
  • Reduced Waiting Times: Average wait times for DRT services remain significantly lower than traditional fixed-route buses.
  • Sustainable Transport Growth: By reducing reliance on private vehicles, DRT contributes to lower emissions and traffic congestion.
  • As demand continues to rise, Shotl remains committed to enhancing these services, ensuring even greater reliability, user satisfaction, and seamless integration with existing public transport networks.

We celebrate this milestone together with the residents of Sant Cugat, our partners at Moventis, the Sant Cugat City Council, and every passenger who has embraced the future of mobility. Here’s to the next 100,000 rides and beyond!
